Evans Concrete recently partnered with Thamesbridge Construction and main contractor Thomas Sinden to manufacture and supply bespoke architectural units for the new Weldon Heart development. Commissioned by the Ebbsfleet Garden City Trust, this vibrant community hub requires durable, high-quality public realm materials to serve local residents effectively.
Our primary scope of work involved the manufacture and supply of over 200 custom units. At the core of this delivery are our bespoke precast concrete planters, which form structural and visual boundaries within the landscaped areas. These precast concrete planters were carefully specified by AFL Architects and EDLA Landscape Architects to ensure they blend seamlessly with the natural environment of the garden city. In addition to the precast concrete planters, Evans also supplied robust seating units, precision-cast walkway paving, and distinct entrance signage.
To achieve the precise aesthetic requirements demanded by the landscape architects, our team developed a specific architectural limestone mix. Each unit features a high-quality etched finish. This surface treatment exposes the fine aggregate, offering a textured, natural stone appearance while maintaining the structural resilience inherent in concrete.
Collaborative precast concrete design work commenced in early 2025. Following rigorous testing and approval, production began swiftly. The staged logistics and delivery of the components started in the summer of 2025. By maintaining a strict schedule, we ensured that the groundwork teams had the materials exactly when required on site. The final deliveries are scheduled for next month, supporting the overall project completion targeted for spring 2026.
This development stands as a testament to effective collaboration and adds another strong reference to our growing portfolio of successful civic projects.
