- Scope: Design, Manufacture and Supply of Architectural Precast Concrete Façade
Britannia Phase 2B forms part of the wider regeneration of the Britannia site in Hackney, delivering high-quality new homes and community spaces that contribute to the area’s long-term transformation. Evans Concrete Products were appointed to design and supply the architectural precast façade, comprising of just over 3000nb architectural acid etch precast panels spread over four buildings, providing a distinctive and durable external envelope that reflects the architectural character of this landmark development.
Our Involvement
Working closely with the design and construction teams from the earliest stages, Evans developed a bespoke precast solution that combined visual quality with practical buildability. The façade comprised a series of architectural panels, columns, spandrel and balcony units designed to achieve a refined, contemporary aesthetic while meeting stringent performance and durability requirements.
Our in-house design team utilised 3D modelling and BIM coordination to manage complex interfaces between the structure, glazing, and precast cladding systems. Early engagement enabled us to optimise panel sizes, fixing details, and sequencing to support an efficient installation process and ensure programme certainty for the client.
Quality and Craftsmanship
Each façade unit was precision-manufactured under factory-controlled conditions, ensuring uniform colour, texture, and finish across the scheme. Using bespoke moulds and a carefully controlled concrete mix, Evans achieved the crisp detailing and consistency demanded by the architectural vision. This approach to precast cladding allowed the team to deliver exceptional quality while maintaining efficiency and sustainability across production. Every stage of manufacture was subject to rigorous quality assurance procedures, reinforcing our reputation for excellence in architectural precast production.
Outcome
With the external envelope expected to be completed in 2026 the façade delivers a high-end architectural finish that enhances both the appearance and longevity of the building. Through collaborative planning, attention to detail, and reliable delivery performance, Evans Concrete Products helped bring to life a development that exemplifies modern design, sustainability, and craftsmanship in precast concrete.
