Evans Concrete was appointed by Morgan Sindall Construction in November 2025 for the design, supply and installation of architectural units forming the external hard landscaping at the University of Oxford’s new Global Health Building. The project, delivered for main client the University of Oxford, forms part of a £32 million Passivhaus scheme and represents a significant addition to our portfolio of precast solutions for prestigious academic developments.
The scope comprised 70nr precast concrete units, forming a series of planters positioned across the external hard landscaping surrounding the building. Each unit was manufactured in a bespoke architectural mix incorporating limestone and Spanish dolomite aggregates, a combination developed specifically to complement the GRC panels forming the building’s external façade. This close attention to material specification ensured the finished units would sit in visual harmony with the wider architectural scheme, rather than simply serving a functional landscaping role.
Working alongside landscape architects Associated Architects, our team managed the process from design through to manufacture and on-site installation, ensuring the bespoke aggregate mix was consistently achieved across all 70 units. The result is a cohesive external hard landscaping scheme that reflects the same design rigour applied throughout the building’s construction.
The Global Health Building is due to open in summer 2026 and will become a landmark addition to the University of Oxford’s estate, supporting research into some of the world’s most pressing health challenges.
