Woolgate Exchange

The redevelopment of Woolgate Exchange has transformed the public realm into a more dynamic and inviting space. As part of this project, Evans by Shay Murtagh supplied bespoke precast planters and seating units, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics. Manufactured from architectural granite and limestone, these elements bring durability and style to the heart of the development.

The architectural granite mix was carefully selected for its strength and ability to maintain a sleek, modern appearance in a busy urban setting. An acid-etched finish gives the planters and seating a refined texture, allowing them to blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment. Positioned throughout the entrance plaza, these elements provide practical seating while helping to define landscaped areas and integrate greenery into the design.

Led by Stanhope PLC, with Mace as the main contractor, the project required close collaboration between all partners. Maylim, the external works contractor, appointed Evans to manufacture the architectural granite seating and planter units in line with the vision of landscape architects Gillespies. Their design strikes a balance between form and function, creating a space that is both visually appealing and highly practical.

Built to withstand the demands of a high-traffic environment, these elements offer long-term durability with minimal maintenance. The acid-etched surface provides a non-slip finish for safety, while the curved profiles contribute to the smooth flow of the space. With expertise in design and logistics, Evans ensured efficient delivery and installation, helping bring the project to completion seamlessly.

Evans by Shay Murtagh continues to be a trusted partner in delivering high-quality precast concrete solutions for urban developments.
